Canine-Centred Therapy
Canine-Centred Therapy recognizes that all dogs are unique individuals born into this world fully equipped biologically to navigate life without human intervention. Canine-centred therapists and coaches believe every dog strives for and can fulfil their potential under the right conditions.
The main goal of therapy is to help guardians understand the uniqueness of their dogs, facilitate their development, meet their individual needs and expand their life skills and coping abilities so they can start to thrive.
When a dog is not living at their potential or thriving, canine-centred therapy fosters opportunities to make desired changes and improve the dog’s and the guardian’s quality of life through an integrative, multi-faceted approach.
Canine-Centred Therapy utilizes behaviour therapy models such as behaviour activation and skill building; cognitive behaviour therapy tools such as regulation, mindfulness and progressive relaxation; biological models for understanding brain & body development, hormones & neurotransmitters and nutritional factors.
