What It's Like to Work With a Professional Canine Counsellor
A Commitment to Deep Transformation (Not Quick Fixes)
This work is not for everyone. I do not offer single sessions, Band-Aid solutions, or tactics designed to suppress "bad" behaviour. Real, lasting change requires a willingness to understand who your dog truly is, accept them fully, and adjust the environment and lifestyle around them.
Because of my background in counselling and social work, I do not look at your dog in isolation; I work with the entire family unit. With my upcoming book The Dog Messenger releasing next April, my practice is exclusively dedicated to guardians who are ready to commit fully to this deep, transformative process.
A Whole-System, Virtual Approach
My counselling sessions are conducted entirely virtually, allowing me to partner with dedicated families all over the world.
Because our work focuses on lifestyle shifts, emotional health, and family dynamics rather than mechanical obedience drills, I do not need to be physically in your living room. In fact, virtual work offers distinct therapeutic advantages:
- No Re-Traumatization: We avoid triggering damaging distress or reactivity in your dog by introducing a stranger into their safe space.
- Low-Stress Environment: You and your dog stay comfortable at home, where true learning and emotional regulation happen best.
- Global Access & Faster Scheduling: Distance is never a barrier, eliminating travel hassles and long wait times.
How We Work Together
My approach focuses on improving the physical, mental, and emotional health of dogs and their families to help the canine nervous system return to balance. Grounded in the C.A.N.I.N.E. Connection Method, our work integrates behaviourism, ethology, applied neuroscience, cognitive-behavioural techniques, relationship psychology, and mindfulness.
We replace control with connected partnership, learning to lead with love through active listening, empathy, play, clear communication, and trust. Whether you are navigating puppy development, reactivity, anxiety, excessive barking, leash pulling, or complex sensory integration challenges, we address the root causes from the inside out.
