I have exciting news for 2027

I’ve been keeping a secret for a while now, and I’m finally ready to share it: I’ve been signed by Dundurn Press to publish my debut book in the spring of 2027!

Dundurn Press is an award-winning publisher established in 1972 and one of the largest independent publishing houses in Canada with over 2500 Canadian-authored titles in print!
It’s been a long journey of late nights and countless drafts as I put my heart and soul into making my dream come true. Without further ado, I'm thrilled to announce that my debut book will be hitting shelves in 2027!!

A Sneak Peek: While it’s still a little while until you can hold a copy in your hands, here is a bit about what I’ve been working on:

In March 2020, the world came to a sudden halt. While the pandemic brought restrictions for many, it offered me a rare period of focus and opportunity for creative expression. I had already transitioned my consulting to virtual platforms and moved away from group classes, so the quiet of 2020 became a blessing. It allowed me to pour my energy into a heart-centred approach I had been dreaming of for nearly a decade. My "crazy" idea to bring feelings into dog training was finally coming to life.

During those evenings after my baby was in bed, I brainstormed and wrote what I now call canine-centred therapy. At its core, this is about giving dogs the best life possible by considering how they think, feel, behave, and stay healthy. Instead of just fixing specific behaviour issues, this approach helps dogs grow from the inside out. I wanted to make sense of the complex dance between a dog's instincts and the modern world, integrating secure attachment, biological fulfillment, and emotional wellness.

The biggest shift was moving away from robotic training techniques toward a lifestyle that cultivates an unshakable bond. This is not a quick fix; it is a fundamental change in how we live with our animals. The core belief of a canine-centred lifestyle is that dogs possess innate wisdom. Each dog arrives to teach us something about ourselves. They are here to guide us, and to hear them, we must let go of everything society has taught us about training. Dogs are more than their behaviour; they are composed of many overlapping layers that weave together to create the gift of who they are.

To help guardians understand their dogs on a deeper level, I created the acronym C.A.N.I.N.E. to encapsulate the six layers of a dog’s essence:

·       Constitution (personality)
·       Ancestry (genetics)
·       Needs (health, fulfillment, and purpose)
·       Individual (developmental stages)
·       Nurture (attachment and environment)
·       Experience (learning history)

Canine-centred therapy recognizes that nature equipped dogs with the tools they need to navigate life without constant human interference. Given the right conditions, every dog can reach their fullest potential. This journey fosters resilience and wellness throughout the family unit by adhering to three core beliefs. First, dogs are born complete, and we simply have to help them uncover their inner wisdom. Second, the human dog connection is the foundation of all resilience; without safety through relationship, dogs will continue to act out of survival. Third, every dog is different, requiring an approach that honours the individual rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Why am I telling you now? Publishing a book is a marathon, and the "pre-launch" phase is where the real magic happens. I wanted to share this milestone with the people who have supported me along the way.

Want to follow along? Over the next year, I’ll be sharing cover reveals, behind-the-scenes looks at the publishing process, and maybe even some early snippets. You can stay in the loop by:

There is a lot of work still to be done, but today, I’m just taking a moment to celebrate that this is actually happening.

Every one of you has inspired me in some way, and I am grateful for every family I've had the pleasure of meeting or working alongside.

I can't wait to share more as time goes on!
